Dr. Sylvia Klinger, an author and global nutrition entrepreneur holds degrees including a DBA, MS, RDN, LDN, and CPT. As the president of Hispanic Food Communications. A company dedicated to nutrition communication and culinary consulting. She combines her love, for food with her heritage to empower and inspire individuals in her community through the meals they prepare in their kitchens. Through her studies in nutrition and upbringing in a household Sylvia has come to appreciate the impact of nutrition. Thanks to her appearances on radio and television programs Sylvia has become a go-to expert for news media. She provides commentary on nutrition research. Has been featured on various local, national, and international TV and radio stations. PUBLICATIONS Her publication in 2018 is the "Little Book of Simple Eating" available, in both English and Spanish. Sylvia also co-authored the award-winning Hispanic Family Nutrition Counseling Kit published by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in December 2015. Other articles that Sylvia has contributed to include "The Importance of Breakfast, for Health; Defining a Quality Breakfast," which was published in December 2014 by the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and "Exploring the Link Between Acculturation and Diet among Latinos in the United States; Implications for Future Research " published in August 2008 by the journal. Sylvia also co-wrote a cookbook titled "The Ally Cookbook; Over 200 Brand New Recipes and Meal Plans" (Meredith Books) in 2007. PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS Sylvia is actively involved on boards, including the Grain Foods Foundation Advisory Board and the FAMA Center for Family Caregivers Board. Additionally, Dr. Klinger has had experience as a visiting professor at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Targu Mures in Romania, where she taught nutrition communications and led nutrition practicum labs. She holds memberships in organizations such as the National Strength and Fitness Council, The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Illinois Dietetic Association as well as has served as chair for LAHIDAN (the Latino Hispanic Dietetic Association network group) Nutrition Entrepreneurs, Food and Culinary Professionals Practice Groups. Currently, she acts as secretary for Dietitians in Business and Communications while also serving as member chair, for IAAND (the International Affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics). Sylvia was honored as the Dietitian of 2009 by the West Suburban Chapter of the Illinois Dietetic Association. In 2012 she was recognized as the Distinguished Alumna of 2012 by Loma Linda School of Allied Health Professions – Nutrition and Dietetics. Also received the Rincon Family Services Care Award in the year. Recently Sylvia was awarded the title of Prominent Business Woman of the Year in 2013 by La Raza newspaper, in Chicago. Sylvia completed her Bachelor's degree in dietetics and nutrition from Loma Linda University in California (1984) followed by a Master's degree in administration from DePaul University in Chicago (1993). She further pursued her Doctorate in Business Administration with a specialization in leadership, from California Intercontinental University graduating in 2016.
